Find a setting and apply it
Press Ctrl+, to open settings. Use the search field at the top to find settings by English or Japanese terms. Apply saves changes without closing the window, OK saves and closes, and Cancel discards changes.

Change the language and the colours
The app starts in English. To switch, choose Settings → General → Language and pick a language. Restart the app for it to apply everywhere.
Ctrl+D switches between dark and light. Settings → Colors lets you choose a theme for dark and for light separately. You can also adjust individual colours and keep the result as your own theme with Save As….
Make the text comfortable to read
You can choose separate fonts for editor text, preview text and code in the preview. Adjust text size, line spacing and letter spacing while checking the sample on each tab.
Source Max Width and Preview Max Width stop lines from running too long on a wide screen. 0 means no limit. How quickly the preview follows your typing is set by the preview delay.
Turn on auto-save
Turn on General → Auto-save → Automatically save files after editing stops. It is off by default. The delay is set between 1 and 30 seconds.
It applies to the tab in view at the time. An unsaved new tab has nowhere to save to and is not auto-saved, so save it once with Ctrl+S first. Auto-save is also cancelled when the text contains characters the encoding cannot represent, so check the notification.
Change shortcuts and gestures
- Search for a command name on the Shortcuts tab.
- Click Shortcut or Shortcut 2 for that command.
- Press the keys you want and save with OK. Delete clears the assignment.
If those keys were assigned to another command, that assignment is removed automatically. Check the result in the help on F12.
For mouse gestures, choose a command on the Gestures tab, draw the movement in the recording area with the right button held, and press Apply.
Arrange the panels and your snippets
Right-click the empty part of the activity bar on the left to show and hide entries. Dragging a button up or down reorders it.
Hiding an activity bar item also stops its feature. If cloud sync or backlinks stop working, right-click the activity bar and check that the relevant item is enabled.
For snippets, choose Templates → Add Slot and point it at a text file, then assign a key or a gesture to that slot to insert it.
Back up your settings
Use Backup → Export Settings to save your settings as a ZIP file. Use Import Settings to restore them from a previously exported ZIP. Importing overwrites the current settings and restarts the app to apply the restored settings.
Settings, themes and additional syntax definitions are covered. Logs, caches and cloud credentials are not. Connect to your cloud services again on the other machine.
